Welcome to Kingsway Surgery:
Dear patients
when you call for an appointment our reception staff will take details of your issue/problem or request. Please be advised that this information goes tot he clinical team for review, they will then contact you via SMS or patchs message to advise the next steps, depending on your initial request.
We are no longer able to facilitate patients coming up to the reception desk to book appointments on the day or hand in urine samples for testing, our staff will ask you to either contact the surgery by telephone or by patchs our eConsult service, so they can complete a triage form for the clinical team to review.

Dear Patients/Parents Kingsway Surgery are ceasing prescribing and monitoring for our ADHD patients from 01/01/2026
We would like to inform you or your family member who has ADHD medication prescribed by our GP practice, that Kingsway Surgery will cease to prescribe medication for treatment of ADHD from 01/01/26. We will ensure you have your medication up until 31/12/25.
What is changing?
We will be writing to the specialist team that diagnosed your ADHD and recommended medication. We have advised them that from 01/01/2026 we expect them to take responsibility for prescribing your medication. They will also provide the monitoring that you need (for example height, weight, blood pressure).
Is there anything I need to do?
No, we will write to your specialist team before this transition to ensure a smooth handover.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact your specialist team.
Or click on the link below for further information and help.
Why is the process changing?
There are a lot more patients who take medication that needs monitoring and there is an aging population. GP practices are struggling to meet these increasing needs with the staffing capacity they have available. In addition, the national shortage of medications and the complexity of ADHD care pathways has made safe ongoing prescribing of ADHD medication challenging.
As a result, Kingsway Surgery, as well as others in Mid and South Essex feel that we can no longer safely continue to prescribe ADHD medications and provide the necessary monitoring, a service that has never been part of core contractual GP work. For this reason, after 31/12/ 2025 Kingsway Surgery will no longer issue prescriptions for ADHD medications.
